He added that Bitcoin holders would also receive eCash on a one-for-one basis with their BTC balances at the snapshot taken at the fork point. The plan would not move any BTC on Bitcoin's main chain. It would create a new blockchain with an altered history. Bitcoin developer Jameson Lopp characterized it as a separate-chain event rather than a direct transfer of BTC. For Bitcoin holders, the mechanics are straightforward: BTC balances would remain on the original network, and matching eCash balances would appear on the new chain based on holdings at the snapshot.
