US September CPI Forecast to Rise 3.6% as Gasoline Prices Push Inflation Higher
The US Bureau of Labor Statistics will release September CPI on Wednesday. Economists expect overall inflation to rise 0.6% month over month and 3.6% year over year, the largest monthly gain in five months, driven by higher gasoline prices. Core CPI is forecast to increase 0.2% monthly and 2.5% annually. CME FedWatch shows about a 20% chance of a Fed rate hike in October.
