PANews, Sept. 12 — Cross-chain protocol Symbiosis said it was hit by an exploit on Sept. 11 after an attacker took advantage of a vulnerability in its Bitcoin Bridge. The project has temporarily halted BTC cross-chain routing. Other routes, including EVM networks as well as TRON and TON, remain operational and were not affected. Related components such as Octopools are also running normally. Symbiosis said it has recovered about 15 BTC, which has been moved to a team-controlled multisig wallet. The team is offering the attacker a bug bounty, proposing the return of 20% of the stolen funds if the remainder is sent back by Sept. 13. After that date, the same 20% reward will be paid to anyone who provides information that helps recover the assets. The protocol said the final loss figure is still being calculated and will be published in a subsequent update.
