European shares edge higher as ASML's AI demand outlook lifts tech

European stocks edged higher on Wednesday, with the STOXX 600 up 0.32% at 636.99. ASML gained 1.8% as the world's largest chipmaking equipment supplier said AI-driven demand is so strong that it will not fully meet customer needs until 2027 or 2028, and raised its full-year sales outlook. The tech sector led gains, rising 0.8%. An attack on an oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz pushed oil prices higher, partly dampening risk appetite.
