White House crypto adviser signals major update on Trump's strategic Bitcoin reserve

Patrick Witt, executive director of the White House Presidential Advisory Committee on Digital Assets, said at the Bitcoin 2026 conference that significant announcements on President Donald Trump's strategic Bitcoin reserve are expected in the coming weeks, The Block reported, according to ChainCatcher. Witt said the administration has been evaluating the operational framework and legal interpretations needed to ensure digital assets—especially Bitcoin—held on the government's balance sheet are properly safeguarded. Lawmakers are also moving to turn the executive action into statute. The BITCOIN Bill, reintroduced by Sen. Cynthia Lummis and Rep. Nick Begich, has been renamed the U.S. Reserve Modernization Act. The proposal includes a plan to acquire 1 million Bitcoin over five years using a "budgetneutral strategy."
