Vitalik Buterin Sells 18,684 ETH Worth $38.2M, Surpassing 16,384 ETH Target

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has sold 18,684 ETH worth approximately $38.2 million, exceeding his previously announced disposal target of 16,384 ETH set on Jan. 31, 2026, on-chain data show. The sales, executed in multiple waves since early February, included notable transactions such as 2,961 ETH sold over three days at an average price of $2,228 per token, withdrawals of 3,500 ETH from Aave, and multiple swaps of 7 to 70 WETH via CoW Protocol. Arkham Intelligence data show wallets associated with Buterin still hold more than 240,000 ETH, while Ethereum traded near $2,050, up 8.6% in 24 hours but down nearly 30% over one month. Analyst Ali Martinez attributed Ethereum's broader decline to institutional ETF outflows totaling about 563,600 ETH, or roughly $1.13 billion, noting that key downside levels to watch if selling continues include $1,800, $1,584, $1,238, and $1,089.
