It said depositors connected to the digital asset sector and users of active escrow accounts were more prone to pull funds, with Signature's active escrow balances falling 88% between March 7 and March 17, 2023. The report also highlighted heavy wire-transfer outflows and high uninsured exposure among these deposits.

On May 19, Ripple said Ripple Prime integrated with EDX Markets and EDXM International to add EDX liquidity for institutional clients across digital asset spot and perpetual futures markets. The setup provides a single prime-brokerage access point that combines trading, credit intermediation, net settlement, and collateral and margin workflows. Ripple also said the collaboration is intended to support future use of its U.S. dollar-backed stablecoin RLUSD for settlement and collateral on EDX.

Evernorth argues XRP and RLUSD fill different roles on the XRP Ledger, with XRP used as a neutral bridge asset for routing trades and RLUSD aimed at dollar-denominated transactions. In a May 20 Evernorth blog post, chief business officer Sagar Shah said issuer-linked constraints can make stablecoins less suited for universal routing across markets. The U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency’s clearance of national trust charters tied to Coinbase, Ripple, Bitgo and other digital-asset firms has widened a regulatory dispute involving Sen. Elizabeth Warren. On May 19, Bitgo CEO Mike Belshe published an open letter arguing that fiduciary custody keeps client assets segregated in bankruptcy-remote accounts and does not involve deposits or lending. He also said stablecoin reserves are held in full and supported by twice-monthly attestations plus quarterly and annual audits.
