Lower gold prices draw Asian physical buyers back as India discounts narrow to $14 an ounce
After a monthly drop of more than 6%, physical gold demand is picking up across key Asian markets. In India, dealer discounts narrowed sharply to as much as $14 an ounce from up to $43 an ounce previously, while in China bullion traded at premiums of $5 to $10 an ounce over the global benchmark, signalling firmer end-user buying. Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan traded in relatively tight ranges, reflecting bargain-hunting after the pullback.
