Chemours, DuPont and Corteva agree to $455m North Carolina PFAS settlement
Chemours, DuPont and Corteva reached a $455m settlement with North Carolina and 11 local entities over claims that PFAS from Chemours’ Fayetteville Works plant contaminated drinking water. The payments will be made over 15 years, and Chemours expects to pay about $50m over the next 12 months. Under a 2021 agreement among the companies, Chemours will cover 50% of the settlement cost while DuPont and Corteva will split the remainder.

UK 10-year gilt yield climbs to 5.223%, highest since June 2008, as oil rally fuels global bond selloff
The UK 10-year gilt yield rose to 5.223%, the highest level since June 2008. Brent crude climbed to $91.69 a barrel, adding to inflation expectations. Japan’s 10-year government bond yield touched 3% for the first time since 1996, while Germany’s 10-year yield rose to 3.34%, a 15-year high. Germany’s August inflation ticked up to 2.9%, with energy prices up 10.5% year on year.
